Chosen this week by Alice Pinson from our production team, we're looking back to 1979, when a 29-year-old Sigourney Weaver was enjoying a breakthrough year that would see her play an iconic lead role in Ridley Scott's Alien. It was also the year Douglas Kirkland would photograph Weaver enjoying a hot dog and soda from Tail o' the Pup, a giant hot-dog shaped roadside stand on La Cienega Boulevard that was already a kitsch Hollywood landmark by the late '70s.

What about this print made you choose it?
Alice: Sigourney is one of my favourite actors, and she looks cool here. I like the warm colour palette, particularly the splashes of yellow and red throughout the image.
If you were lucky enough to own this print, where would you hang it in your home and why?
Alice: I would love this print in the largest size (40” x 60”), and I would hang it in a prime spot above the fireplace or sofa, so it can’t be missed.
Describe the mood of the photograph in a single word:
Alice: Hot (dog).
