This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most popular British songs of all time – Slade’s 1973 Christmas Number 1 “Merry Xmas Everybody”. Written by legendary frontman Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea, the song sold over a million copies on its first release, and has re-entered the charts almost every December since.
