Ice Waterfall by Paul Nicklen: meltwater pours from the edge of a vast ice cap into the sea beneath a dark, layered sky
Ice Waterfall, Svalbard, Norway, 2014

Iconic Images Gallery presents Reverence: The Photography of Paul Nicklen, the first UK exhibition by the Canadian photographer, filmmaker and marine biologist.

One of the most celebrated wildlife photographers working today, Nicklen has spent more than three decades photographing the polar regions, the open ocean and the animals that depend on them. His pictures are made under extreme conditions and often at close quarters, and they carry both the beauty of these places and the urgency of protecting them.

Suspended Grace by Paul Nicklen: sperm whales sleeping upright beneath the surface
Suspended Grace, Dominica, 2019

Reverence brings together works from across Nicklen's career, from the ice of Svalbard to the deep waters off Dominica. In Face to Face, a polar bear peers through the window of a remote cabin. Ice Waterfall captures meltwater pouring from a vast ice cap into the sea. Suspended Grace shows sperm whales sleeping upright beneath the surface, a rarely witnessed behaviour.

The title reflects the spirit of the work: awe, deep respect and a sense of connection with the natural world. Every photograph in the exhibition is a limited edition print, and all are available to buy.

The exhibition coincides with Reverence (Hemeria, 2026), the most comprehensive collection of Nicklen's photography published to date. Signed copies are on sale at the gallery throughout the exhibition.
