Billy Idol from the Knabe & Mankowitz collaboration, 1978 — Limited Edition Print in French Polynesia
Prices from £3,120 / $3,500
A special collaboration between Walter Knabe and renowned English rock and roll photographer, Gered Mankowitz. The sixth in the collection is Billy Idol, titled "Billy 78". This edition was created using a black and white photo taken in 1978 at the photographer's Great Windmill Street studio in London, while shooting Billy's band Generation X for their first studio album sleeve. Mankowitz shot a series of individual portraits on his large format camera, and this shot of Billy had a simplicity and power that has proved to be timeless. Mankowitz loved this shot so much that it was used as the flagship image for his first London exhibition in 1981.
