In preparation for shooting Vamp, the 1986 cult film in which she played Katrina, Queen of Vampires, Grace Jones's body and face were painted by the American pop artist Keith Haring. Jones sported Haring's instinctive primary lines on her skin, making her resemble a tribal queen in ritual dress, white patterns marking the flow of energy in her body. Photographer Douglas Kirkland, famed for his on-set portraits, captured the pair mid-creation.

Ann-Margret rides her chopper motorbike down an empty highway in Las Vegas in 1971. As she drove the bike down the road Kirkland took photos from the back of a convertible car while his wife, Francoise, drove. He noted, "Finally I said, 'We got it, Ann-Margret!' and she threw out her legs and said 'WEEEE' out of joy that we had gotten the pictures, but instead her reaction became the picture".

Raquel Welch is photographed in a cowboy hat during a beach session for Daily Mirror magazine in 1966. An international sex symbol, the actress was also known for her roles in movies such as The Beloved and One Million Years B.C..

Twiggy is photographed wearing a 1920s-style beaded cap during a shoot circa 1971. As with several photographs taken of the model at the time, this image was taken by Twiggy's then-manager and partner Justin de Villeneuve.
