English rock band Slade photographed for "Slayed" cover, 1972 — Limited Edition Print
English rock band Slade (Noddy Holder, Dave Hill, Jim Lea and Don Powell) photographed for their "Slayed" album in London, 1972.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most popular British songs of all time – Slade’s 1973 Christmas Number 1 “Merry Xmas Everybody”. Written by legendary frontman Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea, the song sold over a million copies on its first release, and has re-entered the charts almost every December since. Gered Mankowitz photographed Slade more than 40 times over the course of his career, counting them as – besides colleagues and friends – a “truly great British band.” With Slade images reaching as far back as the 60s, Gereds archive also contains the iconic shot of the band donning red noses, which was used on the cover of their 1976 album Nobody’s Fools.

A digital c-type is a photographic print, on light-sensitive paper, that has been exposed using digital technology, rather than traditional analogue (otherwise known as ‘darkroom’) techniques.
Digital c-types are created by exposing the paper using lasers or LEDs rather than a bulb, like in a darkroom. The second part of the traditional process is much the same however: the paper is processed in a photographic developer, followed by bleach fix before being washed to remove the processing chemicals.
